Mexican Cruise

We just got back from a 7 day cruise to Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. We went with our friends Geoff and Erika. It was our first cruise but I hope not the last.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN - MARINER OF THE SEAS

Brandon getting ready to climb up a 30 FOOT ROCK WALL

We took advantage of pretty much everything the ship had to offer even ROLLER BLADING
The FIRST formal night of the trip. It was to have an excuse to get all dressed up.

Our first stop was Cabo and we took these buggies on the FREEWAY for about 35 mins to the sand dunes. After going on a CRAZY ride through the desert (I would have felt A LOT safer if I would have had a HELMET & a Mouth Gaurd) we ended up at the secluded GORGEOUS BEACH. We played in the WARM OCEAN WATER for as long as they would let us. The most amazing water ever.

Cabo San Lucas might have the BEST WATER in the world. It was CRYSTAL CLEAR and as WARM as BATH WATER. They basically had to DRAG Brandon and I out. We could have stayed in that water all day.
We got a recomendation from a Cabo local for some lunch. We walked over to a taco shop that had some AMAZING FISH tacos. Watch out RUBIOS I think they out did you. They also brought us out a bowl with about 6 kinds of salsas and some chips. This was one of the BEST things we ate all week.

In Mazatlan we took the "SLOW boat to CHINA" to a nature preserve island called DEER ISLAND. When we FINALLY made it we Kyacked around the island for an hour. After that we hiked to the top of the island and saw a panoramic view of the city. The island was covered with BUTTERFLIES and spiders but I tried to ignore those on the hike.

This was my view from the breakfast table window of the CITY of Mazatlan

Our 3rd PORT was Puerto Vallarta which was without a doubt the most FUN and BEAUTIFUL of the trip. We took a 30 min SPEED BOAT in the middle of the ocean to the jungle in Puerto Vallarta. This is a picture of an amazing beach resort on a cliff. I want to stay there!

We took a German made millitary style bus off roading about 20 miles up the jungle in Puerto Vallarta. The bus ride took us to the begining of our zip line adventure through waterfalls.

We are all geared up to zip line, hike and repel down a waterfall. First we have to ride a MULE through the JUNGLE to the first zip line. I don't have the pictures from the mule ride/zipline but when they send them to me in about 3 weeks I will post some. It was one of the BEST things I have ever done!

The second FORMAL night of the cruise. It was fun to have a 3 course meal pretty much every night!

Geoff's Aunt works for the cruise ship and was able to set up an exclusive tour of the "bridge". This is wear the captain drives the ship. He said they spend $6000 in fuel to travel 1 mile. That is some bad gas mileage. This is a picture of me in the CAPTAINS CHAIR, pretty cool!

Brandon and I sipping our VIRGIN COLADAS at an adult scaveger hunt show.

They had a 9 Hole Minature Golf Course on the ship. It was alway too busy during the day so we took advantage of the WARM weather and played a round under the stars.

The long awaited SURPRISE!

About a week before my birthday (which is in July) Brandon told me he got me a surprise. I LOVE SURPRISES and never try to spoil them so I just got really excited and was happy to wait until my birthday to get it. On my birthday he told me my surprise wasn't ready yet and I would have to wait a little longer. A week after my birthday he told me it still hadn't arrived. By this time I just figured he didn't actually get me a birthday gift and I would eventually forget about it and he would be off the hook. For a month he kept on reminding me that the surprise was still on its way and to keep waiting. So last night he gave me the surprise and it was one of the BEST SURPRISES EVER.

A 7 DAY CRUISE
!

I can't believe it, he even called my work and got me the week off. I am so excited and the best part is we leave TOMORROW! I don't even have to wait since he planned it so long ago its time to GO!!! Yippie, neither of us has been on a cruise and I know we are going to have a BLAST! Brandon you really out did yourself, THANKS SO MUCH!

There goes my CLEAN STREAK

When I was young it seemed I couldn't go very long in between getting injured. I would either end up going to the ER or making an emergency house call to Dr. Taylor. Everything from falling onto the edge of a stair and cutting my head open, pulling a antique grandfather clock right on top of me or breaking my collar bone at Lake Powell. I have been very blessed to be major injury free for many years (minus last year when I sewed my finger and the needle went through my nail & finger and my mom had to take it out with tweezers, stupid.) UNTIL NOW!

I got off work early on Tuesday and decided to make a yummy summer dinner and rent a movie so Brandon and I could have a relaxing nice evening. After getting groceries and getting a movie I rushed home to get dinner started before Brandon got off work. I pulled out the onion to start thinly slicing it and to sum up what seemed to be in slow motion in a few words is that I cut my thumb BAD. I grabbed paper towels to cover it up and after it immediately was soaked with blood. I called Brandon to pick up some antibiotic cream on his way home from work.

When he finally got home I knew it was going to need more than just cream, so Brandon took me to URGENT CARE. I am glad it was the emergency room but just to let you know there is NOTHING URGENT about it. I sat there for an hour and a half and finally got in to show the doctor the damage. He said the only option was
"suture" . What? Do you mean STITCHES? (I guess suture is the medical term.) 5 ugly stitches and a tetanus shot later and we were finally ready to leave. I was proud of myself because last time I got stitches I had to be strapped down, I guess I'm all grown up now because Brandon wasn't even in the room with me. By the time we got in the car it was after 8:00, poor Brandon was STARVING and I wasn't about to go home and make anything. So we went to TACO BELL and spent $5. WHY DIDN'T WE JUST DO THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE? It would have saved me a lot of PAIN, trouble and money.

My clean streak is over, I guess, knowing me, it couldn't last forever, I am going to be extra careful now because IT KILLS and hasn't stopped for 3 days now.

You Win Some... You Loose Some

If you haven't already figured this out from my posts, Brandon and I are food people. We love to eat yummy food, try new things and make it going out to dinner into an event. When we knew we were moving to California we decided that we would make a goal to try a new place to eat every month. So far we have found some gems and have really enjoyed trying so many types of food.

Over the weekend Geoff, Brandon and I set off to try a Chinese restaurant about 35 minutes. away that set up shop in an old abandoned train. We enjoyed the adventure but HATED the food. Three stomach aches later we ended the night with some frozen yogurt to help settle our upset stomach's.
